No more EXCUSES!

We have no more excuses not to exercise now. Jump Force has it all! Well thought out, nicely cued, variations for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced exercisers. All you need are light hand weights, a jump rope (I imagined I had one), and a step bench ( I used my FIRM transfirmer 6 in). As an advanced exerciser and instructor, I had to drop to the intermediate moves for part of the workout. This workout will grow with you and keep you motivated as you sweat and drop pounds. My favorite moves are the standing abs! Tip: have lots of water and a towel on hand. I sweated so much!

This DVD is a must have for all fitness levels. You will not be disappointed. The workout varies in length and has tons of options: 10 min, 25, and 45 minute routines. There are 3 cool down and stretch segments as well. The only complaint I have is the heavy breathing the instructor does during the cool downs.

Solid program

I am an advanced exerciser (1.5 - 3 hr per day, mostly Cathe, Mindy etc). Jump Force is a nice change of pace and provides a solid, advanced workout if you raise your step and go for it. Beginner modifications are also clearly demonstrated (instead of being tucked in the back row). The simple, athletic choreography is well suited to those who value intensity over complexity. ... There are several jump - rope sections and variations are shown to keep boredom at bay. Please note that this is a CARDIO workout for all intents and purposes. Light weights are added to intensify the burn but this can't really qualify or be modified to a circuit program. Most of the weighted moves are done too quickly to allow heavier weights than recommended.

Although it might be tempting to increase the weights (especially if you are use to lifting very heavy weights in more advanced programs), it would be a recipe for tendonitis and shoulder injuries. As a physician who specializes in the treatment of orthopedic injuries, I have seen too many injuries resulting from fast, weighted arm movements (particularly over-head movements). If you experience any pain, set the weights down and modify to lower arm movements. Prevention is far more satisfying than nursing an injury that limits your activities for many months.

This was a tough workout! There is literally NO CHOREOGRAPHY. Anni shows you a move at intermediate level, another woman shows beginner and another shows advanced. There's lots of high impact but there is always a lower modification shown. It was a good balance of strength moves & cardio with some 4-limb movements. More sport-type drill cardio...very basic & easy to follow but I worked up a great sweat! Those of you who prefer complex choreography will probably be bored with this. I prefer no-brainer advanced cardio workouts, so this was great for me. Also, those who prefer to go heavier will probably not like this either. There are certain moves that Anni indicated that you could raise up to 2-3 lb weights. When I tried 3's it was too hard for me due to the fast pace.
I think the weights were more effective in upping the cardio output rather than actually building muscle, though I am guessing that they will help keep the muscles tight! Also, I think I counted 7 jump rope segments, though I didn't use a rope due to my ceiling restrictions. Click here to read the complete review.

Instructor comments: Anni is very genuine, and really knows her stuff! It's obvious that she loves what she does, and I hope she comes out with more workouts.

OK, I finally tried this and felt obligated to come do an actual review.

I'd say this is mostly cardio. You move almost the entire time, and keep changing what you're doing, so your heart rate stays up and it's difficult to use weights. I did go a little heavier than Anni suggested--up to 5 lbs. for triceps and rows when you're standing still.

The cardio consists of work on and off the step, though I think you could easily do it without a step. They also use a jumprope, but I don't have one and got a great workout anyway. All the moves are very basic and athletic. You don't always need to do the armwork while you're moving, the footwork itself will definitely keep your heart going.  The cool-downs are just stretches. Pretty basic, so I ended up just doing my own.

I agree with Adrien's review, she's right on. One thing I'd like to add is that there's some standing ab work, which I'm always a fan of. Just a little--mostly kickboxing that engages your abs through punches or legwork.

It's a keeper! I'd like to see Anni do a weight workout to complement this one.

...the movements are all pretty basic, familiar and easy to follow. I would call this an "auto-pilot" workout, meaning that you can just go with it and not think about foot patterns, not worry about what to do next...you just do it without even thinking about it. (OH--but you WILL feel it!) I just did this today for the first time in a while. I feel so good! The weights don't really add a strength component to the workout per se, but all of my muscles feel pleasantly worked.

I know when some people are in a rut, they need something out of the ordinary, like a dancy, funky workout. I don't think this would fall into that category since all of the moves are familiar. But, if you want a kick-you-in-the-butt cardio interval workout that is straight forward & down to business- this is it!
